A group of bushy plants extremely easy to cultivate under glass as they need the humid atmosphere of a greenhouse. Leaves are colorful, ranging from dark green through dark brown, some with silver.
Potting mix should be rich in humus or organic matter with an all-purpose fertilizer added. Pilea prefers filtered or diffused sunlight; keep moist except when resting.
P. cadierei (aluminum-plant) and its dwarf form, P. cadierei minima; P. microphylla (artillery-plant), small, succulent fernlike foliage; P. nummulariaefolia (creeping-Charley), long trailing stems of puckered light-green leaves; P. repens, quilted coppery-brown leaves.
