A climbing lily of dramatic beauty with golden-crimson blossoms toned cream at the base and with slender, backward-curving petals. Plant in equal-thirds mix of garden loam, leafmold, and sand. The long tubers require a deep pot; plant one to a 6-inch pot or three to an 8-inch pot in January for blooms starting in March.
When blooming ceases, foliage gradually dies off. Tubers should be stored dry until time to start the next growing cycle, when they should be repotted in fresh soil.
G. superba, flowers yellow-orange changing to red; G. virescens, bright red or yellow flowers.
