An excellent pot plant for year-round "flowers" that are really showy bracts. Needs plenty of fresh air and bright sun. Soak thoroughly, then dry out somewhat before watering again.

Pot in a mixture of one-third each garden loam, well-rotted manure, and humus or peat.

Prune frequently; root the tip cuttings, which will bloom the first year.
