Although this plant is classified as a cool greenhouse plant, it tolerates great extremes of temperature from hot to cold. The glossy leaves appear to be sprinkled with gold-dust. Aucuba likes plenty of fresh air and good light, but has been known to do well where light is very poor.
A mixture of garden loam, decayed manure, and peatmoss is good for growing. Some sand may be added to provide good drainage, since it likes to be grown dry and should be allowed to become moderately dry between waterings.
