A compact, attractive, foliage plant that occasionally produces from the top of the plant a four-sided spike of whitish flowers. Gets along with 1 hour of sunlight a day; should have a short semi-dry rest in shade after flowering. Use an all-purpose mix kept moist during active growth. Propagate by seeds or division of the rhizome.
