Things To Do

Shade the entire roof area of your greenhouse by the end of April, especially if you are growing orchids; the sun's warmth is increasing. Repot, as necessary, pot plants that have finished flowering; also divide and repot orchids before new leads extend themselves.

If your vent thermostat was set high for winter weather, reset it at ten degrees above the heat thermostat setting.

Prepare bulb list for next winter's forcing and place your bulb order early.
Bench cucumbers started from seed in March; make chrysanthemum cuttings; start seeds of calendula, marigold, gypsophila, and morning-glory for the outdoor garden.
